This course delves into trauma and trauma-informed care by identifying what trauma is and its impact on relationships, developing an understanding of various aspects of trauma-informed care, recognizing trauma responses and what they communicate, and considering the best methods of trauma-informed communication.

OBJECTIVES:
- Define the fundamental concept of trauma and its impact on relationships, and differentiate between acute and complex trauma
- Distinguish physical and emotional responses to trauma and how the nervous system plays a crucial role in those responses
- Develop an understanding of various aspects of trauma-informed care
- Evaluate the role of becoming trauma-informed in providing effective support and interventions
- Apply core principles of trauma-informed care by understanding effective methods for addressing trauma
- Develop self-care and stress management techniques when working with and addressing trauma
