First Aid for Trainers
A critical aspect of resident care is understanding how to manage and effectively care for illnesses and injuries. This course will discuss the various breathing and cardiac emergencies, sudden illnesses, injuries, and ailments that can occur in your facility. Best practices applicable to assisted living facilities, as well as basic first aid, will be presented, as well as a review of the DHS training requirements for registered trainers.

AUDIENCE: Assisted Living Staff, House Managers, Administrators
OBJECTIVES:
- Identify the roles and responsibilities caregivers have in responding to emergencies
- Determine what care to provide during cardiac emergencies
- Determine what care to provide during sudden illness emergencies
- Determine what care to provide during temperature-related emergencies
- Determine what care to provide for soft tissue, muscle, bone, and joint emergencies
- Understand and review the training requirements set forth by the DHS
