Fire Safety for Trainers
Facilities and staff with the resources and knowledge to handle a fire emergency will be better able to cope with a serious situation than someone who isn't as confident about what to do during an emergency or crisis. The focus of this course is to provide comprehensive information on fire safety, which is not only a regulatory requirement but also used to protect the welfare and safety of the residents and staff, as well as a review of the DHS training requirements for registered trainers.

AUDIENCE: Assisted Living Staff, House Managers, Administrators
OBJECTIVES:
- Consider fire concerns regarding assisted living facilities
- Interpret the elements that impact fire behavior
- Distinguish the systems and equipment used to detect and supress fires
- Understand the components needed for effective emergency planning
- Identify fire safety strategies that can be used in the case of fire
- Understand emergency planning, including severe weather
- Understand and review the training requirements set forth by the DHS
