Standard Precautions for Trainers
Practicing standard precautions to minimize disease transmission is critical to keeping ourselves and our residents safe. We will focus on standard precautions and follow all appropriate infection control procedures to prevent transmitting communicable diseases and bloodborne infections. We will also focus on how exposure controls and personal protective equipment are used to prevent the transmission of bloodborne infections, as well as a review of the DHS training requirements for registered trainers.

AUDIENCE: Assisted Living Staff, House Managers, Administrators
OBJECTIVES:
- Define standard precautions and their value in assisted living facilities
- Consider infectious diseases and the elements associated with them
- Identify prevention and control strategies to use in relation to communicable diseases
- Distinguish the responsibilities staff and facilities have regarding standard precautions
- Understand the review of the training requirements set forth by the DHS
